When speaking with the Televisa network about NAFTA, Mexico's economy minister, Ildefonso Guajardo, said, "If we're going for something that is less than what we have now, it doesn't make sense to stay in." The Mexican peso is stronger by 0.2% at 21.4895 per dollar. Japan's 30-year yield hit an 11-month high. The yield touched 83 basis points, its highest since early March 2016, as investors continue to shed safe-haven bets in favor of riskier assets. German business confidence fell. The Ifo Business Climate Survey fell to 109.8 points in January from 111.0 points in December. The euro is higher by 0.2% at 1.0749 against the dollar. Australia's inflation misses. Consumer prices in Australia rose 0.5% in the fourth quarter, missing the 0.7% gain that economists had forecast. Tobacco (+7.4%) saw the biggest increase during the quarter, while accessories (-5.1%) posted the biggest drop, data from the ABS showed. The Australian dollar is down 0.4% at .7555 versus the dollar. The first IPO of 2017 is canceled. Cisco Systems bought AppDynamics for $3.7 billion on the eve of its initial public offering. Starbucks has asked Microsoft's CEO to join its board. Satya Nadella has been nominated for his "extensive experience and an understanding of how technology will be used and experienced around the world." Gary Cohn will receive a huge payout. The former chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs will receive about $65 million in cash and a total package worth at least $100 million as he moves to the Trump administration, the Financial Times reports. Earnings reporting is heavy. Boeing and Freeport-McMoRan will report ahead of the opening bell while AT&T, eBay, Las Vegas Sands, and Qualcomm are among the names releasing their quarterly results after markets close. US economic data is light. The FHFA House Price Index will be released at 9 a.m. ET. The US 10-year yield is up 2 basis points at 2.48%. www.businessinsider.com/opening-bell-january-25-2017-2017-1

Is this some sort of a Trump rally?
If so, it almost makes the previous administration appear to have been intentionally sand bagging this economy.

We need to come up with different stages of VIX SCAM syndrome. I have to say those guys over at YMB are pretty hilarious and the entertainment is priceless.
Stage 5 of VIX SCAM syndrome is when you triple down on your VIX SCAM long position on MARGIN and then they shave another 10% off of the SCAMS. You get all upset and smash your computer screen, run to your broker and say PULL MY MONEY OUT NOW!! ALL OF IT!! I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS CASINO! And you pull all your money out. You get home and your wife sees how upset you are and says "YOU LOST ALL OUR MONEY IN THE STOCK MARKET"! DIDN'T YOU?!?! AND YOU DENY IT AND SAY NO HONEY, I'M JUST HAVING A BAD DAY!
STAGE 6 Now you swear not to watch the markets EVER again and YOU HATE JIM CRAMER and FAST MONEY CREW, CNBC. lol But your curiousity gets the best of you and you take a peak at the markets and see the VIX SCAMs starting to pop again. Then you get all excited and RUN BACK TO YOUR BROKER and he says 'YOU AGAIN!?!' Then you deposit money back into your account and you tell your broker "BUY THE VIX SCAMS! GO ALL IN AND ON MARGIN!!!!"
STAGE 7 You start watching the markets very closely again and THIS TIME you're sure you GOT THEM!! I'm going to BEAT THEM! You watch the VIX SCAMs pop another 10 cents and your all HAPPY and absolutely convinced you GOT THIS! Then you watch as they rollover and make NEW ALL TIME LOWS AGAIN! Then you throw your TV out the window along with computer monitors, AND YOU BEAT YOUR WIFE!!
STAGE 8 After BEATING YOUR WIFE, you run back to your broker and you START BEATING HIM UP. THEN you get arrested and end up in jail.
(to be continued)
ROFLMAO

For what its worth, S&P is hitting that long term resistance trendline off of the 2007 highs. You'll see it if you look at S&P Monthly chart. Watching to see if it breaks. It's testing now as I type.
On smaller timeframes, S&P is BLOWING through resistance like butter and not even backtesting so far. That won't be good going forward. However, still a lot of trading left today. Have to see how we close.
And VXX 4 hour chart is making candles completely outside its lower BBs. Could continue for another day or two BUT at some point, it needs to snap back. And VXX made another breakaway gap yesterday.
No trades. Still in AWE! lol
This would be a good time as any IMO to START thinking about hedging your long term portfolio.
