If they are not giving you margin is there any advantage of tvix over vxx anymore? You get better % bid ask spreads with vxx I think.

Here's the advantage that the puts have over shorting the stock: as GM drops and goes your way, your puts get more in the money, the delta goes up and you do better at an increasing rate. If you are wrong, the delta drops, and you lose less for every dollar you are wrong.
Just keep the position size small until you decide if you like to use options

The fastest rate of change per dollar invested with puts is at the money puts. The in-the-money puts have higher deltas but you don't get as responsive gamma as at the money. Deep in the money puts are more like just shorting the stock outright.

in MY mind.10 options only need to go up a nickle to make 50% that sounds awesome if you can pick em.

Be ready to lose a few along the way, don't let them kill your plan before its had a real chance

Don't ride any options to zero. Best to go a few months out and plan to hold a week or so one way or the other. Very short term options have very high theta, too high for me. They lose time value at an increasing rate as expiry comes up.

And they get much cheaper VERY fast you will begin to see
Don't think too much about absolute price, a $2.50 put will still be a 2.4 put in a week. that .15 put will be zero in a week. In terms of percent loss it matters
Just my opinion- I don't consider myself a good option trader but I know option math

Those short term options are better for selling. For example, you might sell a call instead of buying the put. That way bid ask may not hurt so bad, and theta is your friend. That's how I prefer to do it.
