Fidelity only charges $4.95/trade. I think for new customers, hundreds of free trades. But they do charge some fee for selling, lol. Anyway, we should all have shorted the Heck out of SNAP and I just KNEW it...too busy to pay attention. Sigh.

Can TVIX be shorted under $5? Also, how many shares available of TVIX, UVXY, VXX to short? See if you can find out. Thx Novie

There's some sec fees for the amount you trade. So it often costs double the commission.

at least vxx came off the high some. I'm really upset with myself for not taking that 5 cents. I was very close to taking it.

So called my boys over at Scottrade. IB is absolutely ridiculous with their commissions.
They will knock down my trades to $4.95 per trade and put in 100 free trades if I re-fund my account 50k plus get $200 free money. lol
Only drawback, I can't short anything under $5 and can only short VXX after 7am EST
IB -- 1k a week (roughly 4k a month) in commissions is way too much. SEC fee would be like a $1 for the way I trade with Scottrade.
Las Vegas, who do you use? Did you say Fidelity?

I bought some xiv and shorted more vxx after hours. Hopefully this works.

I bought some xiv and shorted more vxx after hours. Hopefully this works. This very interesting. If you took a crash to it's worst scale, XIV might lose 1/2 its value. VXX can double in price. I know you aren't sticking around that long with it haha You can't stick with the scams in a worst case situation in any form. You will have lost enough equity in XIV that you will have not enough to reshort VXX at it's higher prices. And for some reason XIV severely under-performs when VIX is in backwardation, so you can't stick with it long. There is no way to survive a crash without re-capitalizing your account.

Indeed. I do think the hedging right now is somewhat related to the job numbers.

the xiv is in the roth ira account. Shorting is not perrmitted so xiv is the next best thing. I only hold with contango unless there's a short term reason to hold for some reason without contango.

I'm expecting one more rally to new highs on the snp before a substantial correction at some point.

In high contango like this, long XIV actually beats VXX by some small percent. I am not sure why, something in the accounting of rolling over futures.

Walnut - Scottrade lets you use maximum leverage and also doesn't adjust your positions without you knowing. Even if your riding all in and have a fed call, just make sure to let them know not to touch your account and as long as you lighten up and get out of the fed call by AH close you'll be fine.
