10 things you need to know before the opening bell The Fed has its eyes on Trump. The minutes from the December Federal Open Market Committee meeting show the Federal Reserve is monitoring how fiscal policy will affect growth and how quickly it will have to raise rates. "Almost all also indicated that the upside risks to their forecasts for economic growth had increased as a result of prospects for more expansionary fiscal policies in coming years," the minutes said. The British economy is "exceeding all expectations." The latest bit of good news comes in the form of services PMI, which drew a reading of 56.2 for December, ahead of the flash estimate of 54.7. The British pound is down 0.1% at 1.2309 against the dollar. Bitcoin surrenders most of its overnight gains. The cryptocurrerncy raced to a high of $1,161.88 per coin, up 6.4%, but it is now higher by just 0.9% at $1,101. Bitcoin has gained about 15% in 2017 after rallying by more than 120% in 2016. Macy's is closing 68 stores. The closings represent about 15% of Macy's store base and will affect nearly 4,000 employees. Macy's also said it expected to earn an adjusted $2.95 to $3.10 a share for fiscal-year 2016, down from its previous estimate of $3.15 to $3.40. Kohl's had a rough holiday season. The retailer said sales slumped 2.1% in November and December, compared with a year ago. "Strong sales on Black Friday and during the week before Christmas were offset by softness in early November and December," Kohl's CEO Kevin Mansell said in a press release. Amazon is in talks to buy American Apparel. The online retailer and Forever 21 are among the companies considering a bid for the bankrupt retailer, Reuters reports. Any deal must top the $66 million offer from Gildan Activewear, which was agreed to by American Apparel when it filed for bankruptcy back in November. Now there's an app that lets you know when Trump tweets about your stocks. The free app, called Trigger, will notify you in real time if Trump tweets about a stock that you own. Stock markets around the world trade mixed. Hong Kong's Hang Seng (+1.5%) led the gains in Asia, and Germany's DAX (-0.1%) is slipping in Europe. Earnings reports trickle out. Walgreens Boot Alliance and Monsanto report ahead of the opening bell. US economic data picks up. ADP Employment Change will be released at 8:15 a.m. ET before initial jobless claims and Markit services PMI cross the wires at 8:30 a.m. ET and 9:45 a.m. ET, respectively. The US 10-year yield is unchanged at 2.44%. www.businessinsider.com/opening-bell-january-5-2017-2017-1

This is what made me neutral on the SCAMs overnight going into today (long term I always have a short SCAM bias lol). Made a bottoming candle with confirmation. Needed to see how VXX gapped this morning. So far the candle is holding up. I expect the SCAMs to bounce and then roll back over. Question is how big of a bounce? I'm thinking they're not ready yet to fill yesterday's BREAKAWAY GAP and expect a small bounce in them and then roll back over and retest all time lows. We'll have to see. Too early to call.

I think VX_F will fill its downside gap ~12.72, and that should get S&P at least to its upper Bollinger Band - that is down about 3 pts from yesterday to ~2283.30's (and those bands are narrowing fast now)

Ok. ADP out of the way and futures barely budged. lol Still have payrolls at 8:30am. Just reported and futures didn't budge again. lol Looking to avg in short position on SCAMs. SCAMs should get a little bounce (gap up) at the open. Nibbling a little in premarket - waiting for cash market to add. BUT SCAMs not ready and shouldn't fill yesterdays GAP down yet IMO. Unless Nuclear War breaks out. lol I see the SCAMs going red possibly within the first hour of trading. Contango still over 12% and S&P still looking bullish even though we have a small pullback this morning. Good trading

Frustrating that I still don't have real time quotes on investing.com. Waiting for it to switch to real-time. lol This really blows when trying to place premarket trades. Seriously.
Nibbling a little more on UVXY short in premarket -- keeping it small
Just switched to real-time

I haven't had any issues with that.

It just switched for me like 5 mins ago. Switched from CLOSED to realtime. VERY FRUSTRATING and messing me up. REALLY need to see real-time futures 24/7
Still adding a little more UVXY short in premarket. 4k now. I may nibble a little more in premarket now that I can see real time futures. lol
But am waiting to add bulk of short during cash markets.

I think those charts go live at 8:30 eastern. If Huh yours are real time all night, I am going to be pissed haha I forgot to check for that specifically before 8:30. I'll check it tomorrow. I'm using Chrome, and the Chrome extensions ABP as an ad blocker and a cookie manager called Vanilla, but investing.com is whitelisted for both.

I'm using Chrome also. Version 55.0.283.87m (64-bit)
Adding more UVXY short in premarket. They're turning back down already. May even open up red at this point. lol

What has been strange, the charts actually seem to be going live "about" 8:30 eastern, have to remember to refresh browser right at 8:30 tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.

I'm using the same build, but it doesn't specify the 64 bit. I am running a Windows 10 64 bit. Likely doesn't make a difference. But we'll see what I get before 8:30 tomorrow. What is odd though is that it seems everyone is getting different real-time start times. That shouldn't be the case. I do have my chrome set to wipe all history every time I close it. Maybe that makes a difference.

VXX 22.64
I was able to get 4k UVXY short and leaving plenty of gun powder. (4k out of possibly 30k)

All being said, I really don't think anything of S&P futures unless they move more than 7 either way. Until then, only noise unless there's some pattern about to breakout/confirm, but that very rarely occurs in futures outside of normal trading hours.
