Walnut - if you get around to it - let me know your thoughts regarding earlier post.
Thx a bunch
"Of course you guys do realize that TVIX only tracks S&P volatility futures on a DAILY basis. So, even if the SnP VIX were to pop 50%, TVIX would would rise only commensurate with whatever happens in one day - TVIX restests itself every day, and If the VIX levels of at, say 20, TVIX share price will flounder and continue to disintegrate just as surely as it does with the VIX at 10."

I'm not quite sure what he is saying there, is that the guy on YMB?
TVIX is just a weighted average portfolio of only 2 securities- the 1st and 2nd month VIX futures. The weights are adjusted daily to keep the TVIX maturity at exactly one month. Whatever those two futures do is exactly what TVIX will do, but x2 because of the leverage. I think he is trying to overly complicate this.

I think he is trying to overly complicate this. I just think his last statement is incorrect. TVIX will not flounder at spot Vix 20 like it would at Vix 10. Spot Vix is factored into the daily contango rate formula. The daily rate is different at Vix 20 as opposed to Vix 10. And if spot Vix rises and 1st month drops below Vix along with 2nd month dropping below 1st month then we have backwardation. Am I not correct ? He posted on ymb after I posted a warning about spot Vix hitting 9.97 the other day before closing at 11.81 I believe and that SP may pullback.

Thx walnut. And btw the daily contango rate for TVIX is factored the same as VXX just times 2 like we discussed. There is no other method for TVIX ?
Also for backwardation all that is required is spot Vix rising above first month? 2nd month doesn't have to fall below first month ? Or does it ?
How was work today ? Any new contracts?

Yeah, this is how I see it all:

I think you and I see it the exact same way. Unless there is some special accounting for TVIX that is different than VXX but I don't think so.

Went to see Sebastian Maniscalco last night. He's a hilarious comedian. Went with wife, her daughter and future son in law.
He's now assistant VP of finance at Capitol one. Deals with large portfolios and much more wealthier clients now.
I think just about every stock he recommended except for one have all gotten crushed. Lol

Btw did you see Clinton take long tza position earlier ? I'm sure for scalp. Hopefully he made money. I told him he's got bigger ones than I do. Today's move was a freight train. Lol
I used to think that way with scams after missing juicy opening gap down. Used to say no it can't go down anymore and would try to go long them. That was a long time ago when I didn't know better.
