I like their "book trader", you arm it, click on that best bid or ask, and it executes very fast without ever any weird issues like you just had.
Book trader presents the dealers like a market maker book, with sizes. and you can arm it with stop orders almost simultaneously if you cared to. But you subscribe to their deep book data, which is just a few bucks a month. Always immediate executions and you can sort of grab better prices with it IMO.
It presents the bid ask in the opposite order (ask - bid) since you are set up like a market maker, which was kinda confusing to me for a while. I put little stickers on my screen to avoid making any mistakes.

How often do you get to cover your short and then re-short at a higher price? I don't think there is any limitation at all, I've had days where I trade many times and I don't think that ever came up This actually seems to have just changed. I need to call them. Their VXX/tvix margin seems like it got even more restrictive.
