Bloomberg reporting that SODA in talks for a buyout ~$40.00 - "according to people familiar with the matter" These anonymous reports usually turn out to be false, so could be a good quick short trade here. Currently trading around $34.50 after being halted for volatility. Risky though. Use a stop. If hit, $37 would be an ideal place to short with a tight stop. $35.25 is a back test of a bearish pattern pointing to ~26.50, and $36.20 is the back test of a larger bearish pattern pointing to ~16. Talking to myself here, fingers gettin' hot, and honey-do-list a'callin'. BOL all. Cathy's wondering why I am spending time restoring an old wooden toolbox my Dad had made and asked what am I gonna do with it when it's done(?) I said "Nothin," at which point she rolled her eyes and gave up trying. Bwahahahaaaaa!

Would it really be all that bad for the market to drop, say ... ehhh ... 1/2 a %?
Geesh.

As a short for a day trade, that was more than an 8% gain, at minimum. Puts likely did very, very well. Moral of the story? Don't ever long trade a buy-out news event released in the middle of the day on a single, anonymous source. When was the last time a buyout was announced mid-day, anyway?

Potential Trade Set-up: AMZN reports earnings today after the close. It still has an upside target ~408 with this iH&S pattern, but it has not yet backtested the neckline. That backtest would occur ~343.75. Also has a gap fill lower ~328. If it were to pull back on earnings to either of those numbers, sets-up for a decent long trade. [chart] JMHO [sarc] Hmmm. Never saw that coming. [/sarc] I wouldn't be surprised at all if the AH's lows were not even seen tomorrow in normal trading (ie. stay above 343.75). AH low so far was 336.56.

Long AMZN partial position at 339.00. Have the remainder set for 328.00. (and yes, maxi, I hear you screaming at me; "Why buy After Hours!?!". And I know, I know. Not a big position though)

How long before AMZN does a stock split do you think? I bet not long. They did two just before the tech bubble burst (and a third 1 year before those).

Do you know what the price was b/4 the last split? And you know they knew. T/R just put a Negative rating this afternoon. This may be the only one I've seen that has been correct unless CVRR turns out to be right.

Do you know what the price was b/4 the last split? Looks like it split twice in 1999. Jan 5, 1999: 3 for 1 closed @ $355.00 the day before Sep 2, 1999: 2 for 1 closed @ $127.00 the day before LINKI don't know where it was trading when the splits were announced though.
